Kites
In the spring, on a cool day,
In fields where near the orchard lay,
With breeze, we set our dreams to play
On kites that could fly high.
from Kites by C. Franck
This is the beginning of a 7 stanza poem (and among my favorites) in the book I am offering below.
It concludes with:
It would be wrong to stop the kite,
Before it flew, despite the plight,
Of loss or death or wrong or right,
Kites were made to fly.

Last year a friend of mine published a children's poetry book (her first).
It is currently offered through Amazon, Target, and other online venues in addition to local bookstores.
There are 20 poems. Some are whimsical, some tell about a childhood event such as when she asked her Dad for a star or her kite above. They are very much enjoyed by adults as well as kids and some have a deeper meaning than just the childish story. It is a fun book.
Last year we used it to teach poetry writing and illustrating in local schools and library workshops and know of it being used with some homeschoolers. She has had some of her adult poetry published but this is her first foray into children's poetry. This was my first foray into children's illustrations.
It is a fun book and we would love to share it with you. We would both sign it and inscribe it to whomever you wish!
