Up for sale is a stunning Bavarian Artist Signed and Hand Painted cider / lemonade pitcher. The hallmark is not clear on the bottom but with a jewelers loop, the word Bavaria is found. This porcelain is as fine as any Limoges. The hand painted pattern is most likely to be found in a Keramics Studio magazine, and could be described as Art Deco, Art Nouveau or Arts and Crafts. Although the artist is unknown to us the signed initials near the handle appear to read IWH or IWN. The top portion is delicately painted with what appears to be a white oriental (opium) poppy design with 2 tone yellow centers and green leaves. A gold banded trim separates the top and bottom. The bottom portion is a subtle light caramel color. The beaded gold painted handle is in very condition with only 2 minor noted areas of wear, on the edges. There are a couple of very light marks on the gold. There are no cracks, chips or hairlines. There is one tiny sand bump on the exterior lower outside portion of the pitcher. There 3 minuscule glaze pops in the interior. The painting on the pitcher is totally intact and beautiful. We did find 2 very minor color smudges that appear to have be done prior to the final firing. The height of pitcher is approximately 5 3/4" tall, the body is 6 7/8" in diameter and it is 7 5/8" across handle to spout. It holds 64 oz. We tend to be overly critical in our assessments so that you may know exactly what you are investing in. A very delightful piece. If you have any questions please feel free to contact us.
