Album notes |
Disc two is an Enhanced CD, which contains both regular audio tracks and multimedia computer files.
Compilation producers: Michael A. Perlmutter, Scot McFayden.
Ever since crossing the pond from England, Showtime's QUEER AS FOLK has made quite an impact as one of the first original TV series to revolve around the love lives of young gay men (in the American version the locale is switched to a Pittsburgh-based club called Babylon). As with HBO's THE SOPRANOS, music has come to play a crucial part in helping provide the highly charged ambience that infuses every episode.
For the 2-CD QUEER AS FOLK: THE THIRD SEASON, Disc One is dominated by intriguing remixes of dance diva Kristine W., drag-queen/actress Divine and former Expose member Gioia, who checks in with an erotically charged Junior Vasquez remix of "From the Inside." Although a Danny Tenaglia Club Mix of Yoko Ono's "Walking on Thin Ice" causes a bit of head scratching, it's no more unusual than the inclusion of Swedish psychedelic rockers Soundtrack of Our Lives' "Infra Riot" on Disc 2. A mix of songs by Underworld, Sneaker Pimps, and Pete Townshend may makes this the most eclectic volume up to this point, but both gay and straight dance music fans will still find plenty of great material to embrace on QUEER AS FOLK: THE THIRD SEASON. |

Like the songs on its two predecessors, the tunes featured on Queer as Folk: The Third Season enhance the series' racy story lines, which revolve around the gay singles scene in Pittsburgh. Among the many cuts sure to transport listeners to the dance floor are Peter Rauhofer's mix of dance diva Kristine W. and the Queer as Folk cast on the Hi-NRG "Some Lovin" and former Expose member Gioia making pulses race with Junior Vasquez's orgasmic-sounding mix of "From the Inside." The late drag queen/actress Divine checks in with the swooshing, Giorgio Moroder–paced "Native Love (Step by Step)," while Sneaker Pimps slow down the tempo with the more deliberate, trip-hop-flavored "Loretta Young Silks." Underworld follow suit with "Sola Sistem," awash in low-humming, ambient synths and Karl Hyde's disembodied singing. Although some unlikely artists, like Pete Townshend (whose "Rough Boys" appears for obvious reasons) and Swedish retro-rockers the Soundtrack of Our Lives (the chiming, psychedelic "Infra Riot"), are included on this two-CD set, there's more than enough club-thumping music here to fill your dance card. All Music Guide
With the soundtrack for the third season, Queer as Folk remains one of the musically hippest shows on television. Queer as Folk: The Third Season is a double-disc set featuring a mix by Chris Cox on disc one and appropriately stylish pop songs on disc two. Highlights from Cox's mix include Junior Vasquez's mix of Gioia's "From the Inside," Danny Tenaglia's popular club remix of Yoko Ono's "Walking on Thin Ice," Divine's "Native Love (Step by Step)," and Cassius' "The Sound of Violence (Dancefloor Killa Mix)," all of which reflect the serious amounts of clubbing depicted in the series. Disc two cheekily includes Pete Townshend's "Rough Boys," delves back into electronica with Sneaker Pimps' "Loretta Young Silks" and Underworld's "Sola Sistim," and also shows cutting-edge taste in rock with the Soundtrack of Our Lives' "Infra Riot" and Broken Social Scene's "Lover's Spit." Overall, Queer as Folk: The Third Season is a hip and eclectic, if not especially deep, collection of music that should please fans of the show. Heather Phares

This is the best one yet. As with the show... it keeps getting better!!!

This is a good album, for people that like techno music (like all the other "QAF" soundtracks). However, this has a track on it by Yoko Ono, it is a great remix of her "Walking On Thin Ice" song, there was a remixed album that was released in 2003, it hit number one on the dance/club charts. If you can't find the "Walking On Thin Ice Remixes" than this is a good album to get, it only has one version of the song, but hey one is better than none, right? Other songs are good on here as well, but I will leave that for you to hear and find out which ones you like better.

You will love this CD. The first CD really gets you moving. Great dance music. If it wasn't for the second CD, which is sort of slow, I'd give it 5 stars
