The TS Michelangelo was an ocean liner built in 1965 by Ansaldo Shipyards in Genoa for the Italian line. Along with her sister ship the TS Rafaello, Michelangelo was one of the last ships built mainly for liner service across the Atlantic. Both ships were designed with Art Deco style interiors associated with tran-Atlantic liners. The Michelangelo made her last Atlantic crossing in July 1975 and eventually was scrapped in Pakistan in 1991. This Art Deco style souvenir copper ship plaque is matted in burgundy velvet and set in a gilt wood frame measuring 12 inches wide by 4 3/8 inches long. It has a burgundy silk hanging cord at the top. On the back is a card for the Captain's signature and Shipmates' signatures, with information on the weight, length and beam of the ship and space to fill in the ports of origin and terminus. The copper face has four shallow dents and a couple of shallow scratches and there is some wear to the card on the back, but overall this plaque is in good condition and is a great, rare souvenir of the last days of trans-Atlantic ocean liners. $32.00
