Antique Book - The Walls of Jericho - by Paul L. Wellman
Publication Date: 1947
Synopsis: deals with Dave Connors, politically inclined county attorney, who is suffering through a loveless marriage to a drunkard. Involved also are Julia Norman, a lawyer whom he loves but cannot marry, and Algeria Wedge, ambitious and conniving wife of the town's newspaper publisher who is also Connors' one-time friend and political adversary. Mrs. Wedge, it appears, is not above surreptitiously maligning her husband's opponent by planting gossip, rumor, and, finally, scandal. And it is only at a murder trial where Julia, like Joshua, in publicly announcing her love for Connors, causes the rigid walls of this Jericho of the plains to come tumbling down.
Condition Grade: B- (due to bumped edges and age-appropriate discoloration of page edges, also some staining to the covers due to wear and age.)
PLEASE READ THE CONDITION GRADING SYSTEM BELOW - I TRY TO ACCURATELY REFLECT THE CONDITION OF THE BOOKS AND PRICE THEM ACCORDINGLY.
GRADE A+ = book is in new or like new condition - binding is uncreased, no bent pages or wear to the cover. May have a price sticker on the cover (front, back, or inside the cover), or may show very minor shelf wear.
GRADE A = book is in excellent used condition, with only minor binding creasing (words on binding are still very readable), and minor wear to the cover (minor corner bumping or creasing, or a minor crease to the cover that does not compromise the appearance of the cover images). May have a price sticker on the cover (front, back or inside the cover), or may show wear to the pages from use. If a bookjacket is present, it may show wear to the surface but is not torn.
GRADE B = book is in good used condition, with creasing, bumped corners or wear to the covers and/or pages, possibly a name written inside the book cover or first pages. May have a price sticker on the cover (front, back or inside the cover) or may have sticker residue. If bookjacket is present, it may have edge wear or minor tears at edges. Many used books fall into this category - they are no less readable than a Grade A book - just not as 'pretty'.
GRADE B- = book may be a hardcover former library book and have a card pocket in the front or back cover, a clear plastic slipcover, stamped or labeled library identification or all of the above. A paperback Grade B- book may have significant wear and/or creasing to the cover and binding, but no tears or missing pages. This is the lowest grade book I will list. These books will be lower priced due to their flaws. Again, they are no less readable than a Grade A book, but are not cosmetically perfect.
Shipping note: You have a choice on how your book is shipped. Please be aware that while Media Mail is the cheapest possible way to ship books, it is also the slowest method, and can take up to two weeks for your item to reach you - sometimes slightly longer. If you need your item sooner, please select a different shipping method. I do not make money on shipping - the USPS price to ship the average-sized paperback book by Media Mail is $3.00 to anywhere in the USA. This includes delivery confirmation, for your protection and mine.
