Here for your consideration is a 3 PIECE TRADITIONAL LITTLE NESTING DOLL SET.  The largest doll measures 2-3/4" tall , the next measures 1-3/4" tall and the smallest measures 1-1/4" tall.  This 3 doll nesting set has been crafted from wood, painted and lacquered.  Although these are listed as Russian Style, I am not sure where they were actually made as they are not marked in any way.
EXCELLENT CONDITION

THE HISTORY OF RUSSIAN NESTING DOLLS
Since the 19th century, matryoshkas (nesting dolls) represented Russian folk art. "Matryoshka" in Russian means "little mother". "Little" is a form of endearment rather than a reference to size.
Russians who left Russia at the turn of the century called them "Baba Dolls" - in other words "grandmother dolls".

WHAT ARE THE DOLLS MADE OF?
WHO MAKES THEM?
WHERE ARE THEY MADE?

This nesting doll set is the work of two artisans: a "wood worker" and a "painter". Each doll is hand turned and is made from cured Linden wood. An artist in his or her home then paints the doll. The dolls are made in St. Sergius' City (in Communist times called Zagorsk), the centuries old center of Russian toy design and manufacturing.
